The El Rosario clinic is located about 250 miles south of San Diego on the pacific side of Baja California. It had its beginnings in the hotel and restaurant owned by Mama Espinoza. The Tucson chapter built a dedicated clinic in 1995 that is in use today. The clinic has a pharmacy that has many over-the-counter medications plus antibiotics, hearing-aid batteries, vitamins, and other items that physicians and dentists may need throughout the day. Rounding out the facility are two exam rooms and a chiropractic table. One of the exam rooms is private and is used for OB/GYN exams. The clinic has running water and gets power from the local power grid. Click HERE to watch a video that shows what goes on during a typical El Rosario clinic weekend trip. |

The clinic has a dental room that has two dental chairs. The dental room also has X-ray capability, an array of dental tools, and an autoclave. A third dental chair is used for dental hygeine.
This clinic also has a dental lab that was set up by one of our founders, Bob Smith. The facility can make partial plates and other items on the premises without having to take impressions back to Arizona for lab work. What used to take a month or two can be done in a single weekend clinic trip.
The Tucson chapter conducts clinics on the second weekend of each month from September through June. In addition, we run an eye clinic in the fall and a women's clinic in the spring. A typical clinic weekend begins on Friday when the dental contingent arrives. The crew drives north to San Quintin for the night and returns Saturday morning. the medical team joins the dental team on Saturday around 10:30. Saturday evening everyone ends up in San Quintin, either flying or driving. |
